About Alison Kersley

Thanks for visiting my Portfolio.

I started painting miniatures around 6 years ago now, when my partner and I wanted to find a shared hobby to do together. As he has always been a collector and player of Warhammer 40K, and I have always been the creative, arty type, we decided painting miniatures was our thing.

I soon found my feet, learning various techniques, starting from the 'eavy metal style of Games Workshop, and moving through to blending, glazing, stippling, etc. After being very on and off with the hobby, I really started to give it serious time back in 2019. My affinity was for more organic and fantasy based models, which led me to start my first proper army; Chaos Daemons of Khorne. My first ever game of Warhammer 40K was in late 2019, towards the end of 8th edition.

Then, as we all know, the world appeared to end. At least temporarily. Lockdown gave rise to lots of mini painting opportunities, and with them, my skills and my passion grew. It almost became an obsession, my main thoughts being of what I could paint and when. I started to become well known as a miniature painter on Twitter, which boosted my self confidence no end. My work started showing up fairly regularly on the Warhammer Community Hobby Round Up as well.

I'm not quite sure when or how I decided I was good enough to be a commission painter, but in May 2021, I painted up a couple of Start Collecting boxes from Games Workshop and sold them on. Spurred on by this success, I tentatively put out on social media that I was taking commissions. I soon got enquiries, and I was off!

I'm now a well known, part-time commission miniature painter, and have been for the past year. I've also had several of my works featured prominently in Warhammer Community articles, as well as been sent a variety of miniatures by Games Workshop to preview. Such an honour!

It's a wonderful feeling, when you finally find what it is you want to do. All I want to do is paint miniatures!

Thank you for taking the time to read this little bit about me, and I hope you enjoy my gallery! Below are also a few testimonials from happy customers.

Alison Kersley

"I recently commissioned Alison to paint a custom looted Ork Rockgrinder for me at relatively short notice. I was thoroughly impressed with their communication, clarity  and quality of work during the whole process. Right from the off they were very responsive and friendly and worked with me to create a vision for the model with which I was happy. I received regular updates, had opportunities to influence or change design part way through and work was completed ahead of schedule. I’d thoroughly recommend Alison to any hobbyists interested in having a very reassuring and value for money commission painting experience."

"I can wholeheartedly recommend Alison for painting commissions. Thanks to her, I've got Orks that are looking bright, lively and beautiful on the tabletop. I've had a few units done already, with more lined up for the near future. As always, thanks Alison!"
